JULY 25-29

Skating Officiating

We’re working on revamping our scheduling system and procedures for Officials at RollerCon. If you would like to get a notification when the scheduling system is ready, please text “Join RollerCon” to 40404. If you want to also join our Officials Tweet, text “Join RCofficials” to 40404, as well.

2012 Officiating

Officials come from all over the world to practice, learn, teach, mentor and bond at RollerCon. But RollerCon is so much more than a typical derby event - more skating, more skaters, more scrimmages, more challenges, bouts, and skating events stretching from 9am til midnight daily. So its an Officials dream - and a bit of an administrative nightmare, as well.

RollerCon is a really great place for officials to network, learn and have fun, as well. 2012 officiating is going to be a bit challenging because the number of tracks has quadrupled, but our staff can handle it!

DO I NEED A PASS TO PARTICIPATE?
RollerCon is a convention - for all roller derby, including officials. If you would like to attend, you will need a pass. That pass will get you entry to all RollerCon events, including seminars and more. If you would like to participate on skates (including officiating bouts), you will need verified insurance and an MVP or Skater Pass. If you are an NSO and have no plans to skate, you should get a Spectator Pass. More info about passes.

INTERESTED IN OFFICIATING AT ROLLERCON?
RollerCon Head Refs will release schedule and application information in Spring of 2012.
1. Review the skills matrix, below.
2. Stay tuned for more info.

REF SKATING SKILL LEVEL DEFINITION
On a scale of 1-5 what is your skating ability level? This is not WFTDA competitor skating ability; this scale is to determine reffing skate skills.

  1. You can’t skate safely
  2. You can skate, but still fall a lot. You would mostly be scheduled for black/white scrimmages, not Challenge Bouts.
  3. You can skate well

Before 2010, the job of 20 people was stuck on just one person. There is no way to thank these people enough for the hard work they did for RollerCon, or the nameless hordes of Officials they recruited without RC Planners even being aware of it. Its lame and so much less than you deserve, but we’ll try anyway. Thanks for everything, you guys.
