Challenges
Text “follow RollerCon” or “follow rc_downunder” to 40404 for SMS deadlines, scores & updates, including notifications when Challenge Submissions open each year.
- RollerCon Challenges are open for viewing to all RollerCon passholders.
- Any scrimmage-safe MVP or Skater pass holder with validated insurance can skate or captain a Challenge.
- Challenges are 30 minutes in duration and are otherwise played by WFTDA rules.
- Full length bouts are Advanced only and are 1 hour in duration.
- Prospective Captains *who meet the criteria and preparation requirements below* can sign up here in the Spring when the forms go live. If you want to be the first to sign up, get the notification tweet by texting “follow Rollercon” to 40404.

CAPTAINS INFO
- All captains must be RollerCon attendees with Skater, MVP, Sponsor or Volunteer MVP passes. We check.
- Familiarize yourself with the RollerCon skating eligibility requirements, which all members of your team must meet.
- Determine who you’re going to play and challenge them.
- Collect skate name, legal name, and contact info for captains of both teams
- Decide on team theme and jersey colors for both teams
- Agree on a co-ed or single-sex team match-up
- Brush up on RollerCon Skater Skill Level Definitions and determine your team skill level range
- Recruit players for your team using our Forum. You must be a member of the forum to see the Challenge boards (not a guest).
PLAYERS
You will need to get on a team, which most people do through our forums. Prepare yourself:
- Make sure you meet the RollerCon skating eligibility requirements.
- Brush up on RollerCon Skater Skill Level Definitions and determine your skill level
- Find a team (or teams) that suit you at our Forum. You must be a member of the forum to see the Challenge boards (not a guest).
- Don’t freak out about how many teams there are. We have lots of slots, and all those “full” teams are likely to have plenty of slots for drop in players on the day of the Challenge
DROP-IN PLAYERS
Captains often fill their rosters in advance, only to find that players don’t show up at game time. Las Vegas takes no prisoners. Many challenges (especially first year teams) take on drop in players during the event to fill those spots. You can be a drop in player if:
- You meet the RollerCon skating eligibility requirements
- Your Skill Level is within the range that captain reserved. All team matchups have a listed skill range.
- You meet any other criteria the captains have determined
- You have the right color shirt with a permanent number
- The captains have room and want you. Hint: almost everyone loves extra jammers.
SCHEDULING CRITERIA & PRIORITIZATION
Single Period Challenges
- Challenges will be scheduled in the order they were received, taking the captains’ scheduling preferences into account as much as possible.
- Higher skill level matches will be prioritized in higher-traffic hour slots
- All other things being equal, multi-year rivalries will be prioritized to hot slots, as well
- Almost everyone wants Fri / Sat; so anyone that marked “any” or another day could get bumped up in the prioritization.
