Charities

2010 is the year we raise a fortune for charity! We have a lot of volunteers, a lot of raffle items, and a lot of generous attendees. Do you have a women’s sports - related charity that you think we should support? Even better, do you WORK for a related charity and you want to help us raise a big pile of money to benefit it? Send your proposal to planning@rollercon.com for consideration.

RollerCon 2008 generated over $12,000 for Tequila Mockingbird with the raffle and other charity events. On August 25, 2007, Tequila Mockingbird, a veteran Chicago roller derby player for The Fury, fell and seriously injured her spinal cord during a bout. Since that day, Tequila has returned home and works daily in therapy to regain her strength and physical abilities. She has regained some movement in all of her limbs and due to sheer perseverance and hard work, she is using the walking machine and swimming with the assistance of her physical therapists. As she approaches the two year anniversary of her accident, she is positive about the direction of her recovery and thanks all who have helped her along the way. There is still work to be done and she still needs your help.
