WORKSHOP TITLE: Volunteer Management - Getting Them and Keeping Them
SHORT DESCRIPTION: (please keep this two or three sentences.) Every roller derby league needs a solid group of volunteers that can be counted on to help with event production. This workshop will teach you, step-by-step, how to recruit, train and RETAIN volunteers to be your league’s staunchest supporters years after year.
TOPICS: (please be detailed - someone who knows nothing about your topic should understand what you’re going to teach. I totally made this stuff up - yours should have more info.)
1. Formulating a Strategic Plan: how to figure out the “who, what, where, and when” of volunteer management.
2. The Business of Recruiting: discussion of a variety of recruiting methods – audience participation welcome! Including, what works best in smaller towns versus larger cities.
3. The Nitty-Gritty of Volunteer Training: how to make sure every volunteer knows what they’re doing, so you don’t have to do it for them!
4. Keeping Your Volunteers Happy: how to show appreciation for your volunteers so they’ll keep coming back.
QUALIFICATIONS: (one or two sentences is plenty!) I’ve been a volunteer manager at a local non-profit for over 5 years, and am currently head of my league’s volunteer committee.
SPACE NEEDED: Regular workshop room with white board.
TARGET AUDIENCE: League leaderships, committee heads, start-up leagues, volunteer coordinators, anyone.
